The condo we were staying in faced the south so we had a great view of the Porlamar Bay and the Hilton Margarita Yacht Harbor.

I used the 12x zoom on my Canon S3 IS Powershot digital camera to capture some closer shots of the fishing boats, mega yachts, and sail boats in Porlamar Bay.

Porlamar is a very popular destination for boat owners because of the low cost of fuel, food, repairs, parts and other services.

At the time of our trip to Margarita Island, I believe gasoline cost about $0.17 per gallon. That's right, just a few cents per gallon!

Another reason that Porlamar is attractive to boating enthusiasts as a suppy stop is that the city was granted duty free status in the 1970's.
