The Castillo De Santa Rosa is a hill top fort or castle located near the town of La Asuncion on Isla Margarita. We visited the Santa Rosa fort during the Road Unlimited 4X4 Jeep Tour of Margarita Island. For more, click on the link or thumbnail image below.
One of the largest shopping centers on Isla Margarita is the Sambil Mall. The Sambil Mall is located near the town of Pampatar just a few miles from Porlamar. For more, click on the link or thumbnail below.
Another highlight of our trip to Margarita Island was a tour given by our usual taxi driver. The cost was about $10 an hour to have him drive us to just about every beach on Isla Margarita. Playa Zaragoza is a beach near the town of Pedro Gonzalez that is sometimes also referred to as “Playa Pedro Gonzalez”. Zaragoza beach is located just south of Playa Puerto Cruz. For more, click on the link or image below.
Playa Guacuco is yet another great white sand beach on the eastern coast of Isla Margarita. It is located in between Playa Parguito and the town of Pampatar. This beach is named for the plentiful “guacucos” or almejas (clams) which can be found in the waters. For more, click on the link or thumbnail below.
Playa Caribe is a white sand beach located in Juan Griego, which is the second largest town on Isla Margarita. We visited it on a week day afternoon so there weren’t many people on the beach. For more, click on the link or image below.
The Restaurante Morro Blanco was our lunch stop on the Road Unlimited 4X4 Jeep Tour of Isla Margarita. The restaurant is located on the semi-arid Macanao Peninsula of the island located on the western side. At the Morro Blanco there was a few green iguanas, a macaw parrot and a capuchin monkey. The Mirador Puerto Constanza is a scenic look out point located on the northeastern tip of Isla Margarita in between Juan Griego and the town of Manzanillo. It offers a great view of the Caribbean Sea and the grass covered mountains of Margarita Island. For more, click on the link or image below.
Playa Manzanillo is a beach in a town of the same name located on the west side of the northeastern tip of Isla Margarita. We visited this beach early on a weekday morning during our taxi driver guided tour of Isla Margarita. If you help the fisherman bring in their nets, you’ll be rewarded with some fresh fish.
